2008 |
Cookeville, TN 4th out of 26 Teams |
Tony Stone and his whole crew do an awesome job with this little contest every year. They never claim to be the biggest, just the best contest. This was our first time this season to finish out of the top 4 in Chicken. They liked our Ribs and pork instead.

Greenwood, SC 26th out of 57 teams |
This was the Kidney Stone contest. Needless to say the focus was not there. This is a super well run contest, the judging is a bit off there but it is still a good contest. Charlie Barrineau busts his butt for the cooks.
Washington, D.C Reserve Grand Champions 39 Teams |
We were very excited to be cooking on the doorstep to our national capital. Our site was right on Pennsylvania Avenue. We finished 2nd overall but we won the Rancher's Reserve Beef BBQ Championship. We also got our 15 seconds of fame as they interviewd us live on Fox News. It was only 30 seconds or so but it was long enough to get a plug in for our main sponsor, Big Green Egg!! |

Cartersville, GA Grand Champions 40 Teams |
What a ride this contest was! We had a great time because Pam and Steve and the girls were there to help us. Charlie had to leave for a wedding right after brisket turn in so he missed the awards...and all 5 of the walks to the stage. |

Barnesville, GA 6th out of 56 teams |
This was our second year at Barnesville and we had a pretty good outing. This was the second leg of the BBQ Guru FBA Triple Crown series. Last year we were 9th so we improved this year. Our Dear friends Sam and Diane from Jus' Fer Fun took Reserve Grand. |

Winchester, TN Reserve Grand 58 teams |
Winchester was bitter sweet this year. We all were very glad to be there but everyone was missing Fred Gould. Linda was being as strong as she could and only broke down when everyone was showing how much we loved her and Fred. I think Byron summed it up best when he posted on the BBQForum that it was the first cook's meeting that he had cried at. I think we all lost it when Ronnie Harwell said "Listen up cooks. I have just one question before we get started. WHERE'S FRED?!!" |

Thomaston, GA 22nd out of 45 teams
|
Thomaston was a brand new contest. It was the first leg of the BBQ Guru FBA Triple Crown series and they did a pretty good job for a group of young folks putting on their first contest. I can't locate our score sheet from this one so I'm, not sure of how we placed in all the other categories. I know we were in the 20s and 30s on everything else. |

Nashville, TN 78 Teams |
Fiddlin', Brewin' & BarBQ'n was a massive contest held in Nashville in the parking lot of the Opryland Hotel. There were 78 of the toughest teams out there on the circuit. Tuffy won this one with Mike and Debbie right behind him. 4th place chicken was pretty sweet considering the competition!
